New Methods in The Early Diagnosis Of Carpal Tunel Syndrome

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) is the complex of symptoms and signs caused by compression of the median nerve in the wrist. CTS is the most common entrapment neuropathy and is an extremely important clinical problem. It is now recognised that the condition can present with nontypical symptoms, especially early cases and the prognosis of patients varies greatly with diagnosis at early stage. Early diagnosis and treatment of CTS is very important because complications can be prevented by early diagnosis and treatment. Recently, for the early diagnosis and treatment of CTS, new methods have been suggested.

Karpal Tünel Sendromu (KTS) bilek bölgesinde median sinirin sıkışması ile oluşan kompleks bir sendromdur. KTS en sık görülen tuzak nöropatidir ve önemli bir klinik problemdir. Özellikle erken dönemlerde atipik semptomlarla ortaya çıkabildiğinden tanısı gecikmektedir. Erken dönemde tanı, tedavi başarısını önemli derecede artırmaktadır. Komplikasyonların önlenmesi önemli derecede erken tanı ve tedaviye bağlıdır. Bu makalede KTS’ nin erken dönemde tanısına ışık tutacak yeni yöntemler ve KTS tedavisi tartışılmıştır.
