Evaluation of Effectiveness of Educatıon Given to Pregnant Women in Elazig Province

INTRODUCTION: This study was carried out in order to determine the pre-education and post-education knowledge levels about gestation period of pregnant women living in the city center and districts of Elazig province.
METHODS: It is a definitive and interventional study aimed to determine the effectiveness of education related to pregnancy given to pregnant women living in Elazig province center and districts. Total of 340 pregnant women were put to pre-test, followed by education and then a week after the final test was applied. The data were recorded SPSS and t test, ANOVA, chi-square.
RESULTS: The mean age of the pregnant women included in the study was 28.94 ± 5.70 years. As the level of education increased, the mean number of pregnancies decreased (p<0.0001). The mean prenatal care was 6.31 ± 3.73. The mean knowledge score of the pregnant women surveyed was 13.74 ± 2.99 before the education and 16.09 ± 1.73 points after the education (U = 1.68 P <0.0001). There were significant increases in knowledge of the pregnant women related to all of the 18 questions used as pre- and post-tests for measuring their knowledge levels. It has been found that the education given to pregnant women participating in the research has increased their knowledge level.
DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION: Giving information about the pregnancy period to the mother candidates is an important health intervention that will affect both maternal health and baby health positively. Providing such educations in primary health care institutions may be an important factor in increasing the effectiveness of preventive health services.

Elazığ İlindeki Gebelere Verilen Eğitimin Etkinliğinin Değerlendirilmesi

GİRİŞ ve AMAÇ: Bu çalışma Elazığ ili merkez ve ilçelerinde yaşayan gebelerin eğitim öncesi ve eğitim sonrası gebelik dönemine ilişkin bilgi düzeylerini belirlemek amacıyla yapılmıştır.
YÖNTEM ve GEREÇLER: Elazığ ili merkez ve ilçelerinde yaşayan gebe dönemindeki kadınlara verilen gebelik ile ilgili eğitimin etkinliğini belirlemeye yönelik yapılan tanımlayıcı ve müdahale tipi bir çalışmadır. Toplam 340 gebeye ön test uygulanmış daha sonra eğitim verilmiş ve bir hafta sonra son test uygulanmıştır. Elde edilen veriler SPSS paket programa kaydedilip, istatistiksel analizde t testi, ANOVA, Ki-kare testleri kullanılmıştır.
BULGULAR: Araştırma kapsamına alınan gebelerin yaş ortalaması 28.94 ±5.70 yıldır Eğitim düzeyi arttıkça ortalama gebelik sayısı azalmaktaydı (p<0.0001). Gebelerin doğum öncesi bakım alma ortalaması 6.31±3.73 idi. Araştırmaya alınan gebelerin bilgi puan ortalaması eğitimden önce 13.74±2.99 iken eğitim sonrasında 16.09±1.73 puan bulundu (U=1.68, p<0.0001). Gebelerin bilgi düzeylerinin ölçülmesi için ön ve son test olarak kullanılan 18 sorunun tümünde anlamlı bilgi artışı olmuştur. Araştırmaya katılan gebelere verilen eğitimin onların bilgi düzeyini arttırdığı bulunmuştur.
TARTIŞMA ve SONUÇ: Anne adaylarına yönelik gebelik dönemi ile ilgili bilgi verilmesi hem anne sağlığını hem bebek sağlığını olumlu yönde etkileyecek önemli bir sağlık müdahalesidir. Bu tür eğitimlerin birinci basamak sağlık kurumlarında verilmesi koruyucu sağlık hizmetlerinin etkinliğinin arttırılabilmesi için önemli bir etken olabilir.
