The Extraction of Part of The Forgotten DJ Stent With Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy

Double J ureteral stent has been under urological practice for more than 35 years. Indications for stent insertion have increased in recent years along with an increase in their use. Thus this complication and side effects due to stent insertion are more frequently observed than previously encountered. Moreover, irritative symptoms of the patient, indwelling stent administration for prolonged periods or being forgotten of a previously administered indwelling stent could have some symptoms and lead to serious complications. A 24 years old man presented with left ureteral stone which was treated by retrograde ureteroscopic treatment using ureteral dj stent. After one month the dj stent was extracted. One year later the patient presented with left flank pain and hematuria. After the inspections we found a part of dj stent at the lower pole. We treated the patient by percutaneous nephrolithotomy surgery and the part of the stent was extracted. This case shows that; one should show attention during the dj stent insertion and extraction. Make sure that the stent was extracted fully. In this case, DJ stents and complications of the forgotten stents were discussed.

Böbrekte Unutulan DJ Stent Parçasının Perkütan Nefrolitotomi ile Çıkarılması

DJ stentler uzun süredir üroloji pratiğinde kullanılmaktadır. Bu stentlerin kullanım endikasyonları da yine bu zamanda artış göstermiştir. İrritatif semptomlar başta olmak üzere bu stentlerden dolayı oluşan komplikasyonların sıklığı artmıştır. Önceden uygulanıp unutulan stentler, hastalarda ciddi komplikasyonlara yol açabilir. Sol üreter taşı nedeniyle üreterorenoskopi ile taşı çıkarılan ve DJ stent takılan 24 yaşındaki bir erkek hastanın stenti 1 ay sonra çekildi. Hastanın bir yıl sonra sol yan ağrısı ve hematürisi olunca polikliniğimize başvurdu ve yapılan tetkiklerinde sol böbrek alt polde DJ stent parçası olabilecek opasiteler. Perkütan cerrahi ile alt pole girilerek stent parçası çıkarıldı. DJ stent yerleştirilirken dikkat ettiğimiz gibi, stent çıkarılırken de aynı dikkatte olmalı ve stentin tam parça olarak çıkarıldığından emin olmalıyız. Bu olgu eşliğinde DJ stentler ve komplikasyonları tartışıldı.
