Evaluation of Application Complaints, Co-Diagnoses and Treatments of Children and Adolescents Diagnosed with Enuresis

INTRODUCTION: It was aimed to determine the information about application complaints, type of enuresis, comorbid diagnoses, family history, recommended treatment methods of patients diagnosed with enuresis
METHODS: 86 cases who applied to our outpatient clinic between January 2014 and January 2019 and were diagnosed with enuresis are evaluated.
RESULTS: Of the 86 patients included in the study, 34 (39.5%) were female and 52 (60.5%) were male. Primary enuresis was diagnosed in 52 (60.5%) of the cases diagnosed with enuresis and secondary enuresis in 34 (39.5%). After evaluation, 64 (74.4%) of the cases were diagnosed with enuresis only, enuresis and encopresis in 6 (7%). Apart from enuresis and encopresis, the most common psychiatric diagnosis was the diagnosis of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. Keeping a calendar (sun-cloud), fluid restriction, sleep hygiene rules were described in 69 (81.2%) of the cases under the title of “behavioral recommendations”, and [medical treatment was started in addition to behavioral recommendations in 13 cases (15.3%). It was determined that 18 (20.9%) of the cases had a family history of enuresis.
DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION: Consistent with the literature, our cases were found to be predominantly male and the comorbidity rate was high. Outpatient follow-up rates, compliance with treatment and treatment rates were also found to be low. Since enuresis is a disorder that negatively affects self-esteem and can cause secondary psychological problems, it is important to apply treatment algorithms suitable for early diagnosis and etiological factor.

Enürezis Tanısı Alan Çocuk ve Ergenlerin Başvuru Yakınmaları, Eşlik Eden Tanıları ve Tedavilerinin Değerlendirilmesi

GİRİŞ ve AMAÇ: Enürezis tanılı olguların başvuru yakınmaları, enürezis tipi, eş tanıları, aile öyküsü, önerilen tedavi yöntemleri ile ilgili bilgilerin saptanması amaçlandı.
YÖNTEM ve GEREÇLER: Ocak 2014 – Ocak 2019 tarihleri arasında polikliniğimize başvuran ve enürezis tanısı konan 86 olgu değerlendirmeye alındı.
BULGULAR: Çalışmaya dahil edilen 86 hastanın 34’ü (%39,5) kız, 52’si (%60,5) erkekti. Enürezis tanısı alan olguların 52’sine (%60,5) primer enürezis, 34’üne (%39,5) sekonder enürezis tanısı konmuştur. Değerlendirme sonrasında olguların 64’üne (%74,4) sadece enürezis, 6’sına (%7) enürezis ve enkoprezis tanıları konmuştur. Enürezis ve enkoprezis dışında en sık konan psikiyatrik tanının Dikkat Eksikliği Hiperaktivite Bozukluğu tanısının olduğu görülmüştür. Olguların 69’una (%81,2) “davranışçı öneriler” başlığı altında takvim tutma (güneş-bulut), sıvı kısıtlaması, uyku hijyen kuralları anlatılmış olup psikoeğitim verilmiştir, 13 olguya (%15,3) davranışçı önerilere ek olarak medikal tedavi başlanmıştır. Olguların 18’inin (%20,9) ailesinde enürezis öyküsünün olduğu saptanmıştır.
TARTIŞMA ve SONUÇ: Olgularımızın literatür ile uyumlu olacak şekilde erkek ağırlıklı olduğu, komorbidite oranının yüksek olduğu bulunmuştur. Poliklinik takip oranları, tedaviye uyum ve tedavi oranlarının da düşük olduğu saptanmıştır. Enürezisin benlik saygısını olumsuz etkileyen, sekonder psikolojik problemlere neden olabilen bir bozukluk olması nedeniyle erken tanı ve etiyolojik faktöre uygun tedavi algoritmalarının uygulanması önem taşımaktadır.
